Document Summary

~we are searching for any sign of life. ~to being this search we tend to look for life as we know it. This does not mean that carbon based life is the only life that exists. ~the notion of life beyond earth is an old theme but a little factual until recently. Observations of canals on mars and jungles on venus- both erroneous- advanced the notion of life in the solar system. ~ ufo"s tend to distort the search for evidence of life beyond earth. Macroscopic life does not exist anywhere else except for the planet earth. Many stars in our galaxy have planetary systems meaning more potential signs for life. ~observational astronomy suggests that earth is not special and thus life may well exit somewhere else. ~biology helps us understand the possibility of et life by appreciating that a variety of life on earth can be found on other planets.
