Not every substance gets handled the same way: some don"t get reabsorbed or secreted, like inulin. This is a plant derived molecule that is used to measure glomerular ltration rate since nothing else happens to it. These have full clearance of 125ml/min: some get completely reabsorbed, leaving nothing for the urine as they all went into the peritubular capillary. Example of this is glucose & amino acids. 0ml/min, since they all go back to the peritubular capillary: some get partially reabsorbed and partially excreted. Here our clearance is somewhere between 0 and a 125 ml / min, depending on how much gets ltered: some don"t get reabsorbed, but instead get secreted into the tubule. Because we"re ltering and secreting the molecule into the tubule, we""re going to dump out an even greater amount of it into the urine than was ltered to begin with. Examples of this include h+ ions, k+ ions, and drugs like penicillin.
