KINE 3012 Lecture Notes - Lecture 29: Aquaporin, Blood Sugar, Extracellular Fluid
Document Summary
Lecture 29, loop of henle & distal tubule. This maximum number of transporter is called the transport maximum, and is where you have reached the saturation point of how much glucose you can move. The more glucose you have the more will be in the ltrate: the amount of glucose being reabsorbed into the surrounding interstitial uid is matched perfectly by the glucose transporters until they are saturated. Renal threshold: this is the plasma concentration of glucose that is going to cause you to reach transport maximum. Other things that get transported with the help of sodium include sugars like galactose and fructose, amino acids, and water soluble vitamins like vitamin c. The proximal tubule is good, but it only reabsorbs 2 thirds of the ltrate. The other third is reabsorbed by other things and that will determine what volume of liquid you will be excreting.
