Summary of comparison of therapeutic alternatives/justifications of interventions in the patient: You simply need to live a healthier lifestyle, so as far as non-pharmacological treatments are concerned, live a healthier lifestyle and if worse comes to worse, surgery. With that being said, let"s look into the pharmacological option of treatment, as they are extremely efficacious and safe, for the most part. With regards to efficacy, all three major classes can help our patient, be them the ppis, h2ras, or mucosal lining protective agents. We know that ppis are the most efficacious and have the longest duration of action, but the other classes can still help our patient. The next thing to consider, then, would be which drugs are the safest. One major concern with h2ras are the fact that they are renally excreted and pose a cardiac threat, which the other classes do not.
