Document Summary

Largest molecules transported by passive & active transport are the size of amino acids or glucose. Move large molecules & particles into and out of cells (soluble proteins) or within a cell. Substances are shuttled into, out of, and within a cell through vesicles. In exocytosis, substances are directed out of a cell to be secreted by fusing a vesicle to the cell membrane. In endocytosis, substances are engulfed into a cell by the formation of a vesicle around them. There are proteins on the vesicles and on the membrane that make sure it fuses correctly. Vesicles membrane fuses with the pm, releasing contents to cell exterior. Proteins in vesicle membrane become part of pm. Different from eukaryotic cells (cid:271)e(cid:272)ause they don"t have golgi. Vesicles containing neurotransmitter arrive at the cell membrane. Ca+2 ion triggers the fusion of the vesicle to the membrane. The neurotransmitter is released outside of the cell. Pockets inward and forms endocyic vesicle on cytoplasmic side.
