Document Summary

Compsci 1032 - lecture 13 - xml and xsd. Blueprint for xml document - tells users exactly how to input and format document. Has to be well-formed (syntactically correct) to be valid (logically correct) Used to be document type definition (dtd) Old way of doing xsds - now obsolete (just have to know it existed for exam) Tests document to make sure it meets specifications (elements and attributes) Anatomy of xsd: processor command, root, always (namespace can be anything) Must be in order of final xml document. All complex tags have at least two parts. Sequence definition - means the following must follow same order as xsd. Self termination - default type in xml document is simple, therefore start and end tag can be removed. Simple tags must specify type of data entry.
