Document Summary
Secretions from accessory organs, specialized cells, and little material from the food you ingest. The fluid secretion is 2x the volume of the blood volume a lot! Reabsorption is going to be very important, less excretion. Fluid input into gi tract = 9. 0 l then 9. 0 l will be removed from the lumen by absorption of gi tract, and little will be excreted. Rugae: temporary folds increase surface area and expands more reabsorption. Gastric pits: that lead to gastric gland. *these folds in the gi tube increase the surface area by 3x. Plica: permanent fold increase surface area. Villi and crypts of lieberk hn: finger-like projections and dips increase surface area as well. *hills/valleys in gi tube increase surface area by 10x. No villi in large intestine, but may found some near the connection between small intestine. Crypts of lieberk hn can still increase surface area. Microvilli in small and large intestines absorption.
