Document Summary
Atp is bound t the pump, 3 na bind. In the e2 conformation, the pump is open to the extracellular space. All 3 of these function together to move glucose from the blood to the extracellular place. The cells lining the intestines are epithelial cells. They give the lpthelial cells more surface area. The microvilli face a direction called the apical surface. The left and right sides are the lateral sides. Together the basal sides and the lateral sides make up the basal-lateral side. These tight junctions stop things from going between the cells they also keep membrane proteins on the proper side. Extracellular fluid on the basolateral side of the epithelial cell. To move glucose from low conc to high conc, you need energy, and you use the energy from moving na against its gradient. To move it from the cell into the blood, you just need the glut uniporter because it moves it from high -> low.
