PSYB01H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 8: Predictive Validity, Content Validity, Face Validity
Document Summary
Lect 8 survey design and scale construction. Cover large geographic areas: don"t have to stay in one place. Data entry and stats analyses are straightforward. No visual or non-verbal cues to influence respondent. Respondents are free to complete survey in their own time. Low response rates: ppl don"t take it seriously. Super easy for people to overlook and dismiss survey research: many ppl steer away from surveys; no one wants to do it. Respondents may intentionally falsify their info: might want to appear better than they are, might want to purposely mess up your data. Spouses sometimes complete surveys on the others" behalf. What about those who don"t have internet to access surveys. Survey should be developed to directly address study goals. Develop plan for statistical analyses during design stage. Know how each question will be analysed: have a plan before you start assessing participants. Long questionnaires get less response than short ones.
