Document Summary

What was ecology about this example: beluga study, what could have been ecological about beluga in quebec waters endangered, the loss of beluga whales and the impact of the environment they live in, data collection. Ecology- the scientific study of the abundance and distribution of organisms in relation to other organisms and environmental conditions. We can study ecology at different hierarchical levels. Population- population dynamics -> the unit of evolution. Biosphere- global processes: multiple populations together make a community, ecosystems are made up of range of communities, biosphere, dynamic of the system as a whole. Individual- survival and reproduction -> the unit of natural selection. We use the scientific method to study ecology. And then we could go out and perform the experiment. There are other models of the scientific method: complex diagram and detailed on the right, more realistic, they both have data and information to make a decision, its circular, never ending.
