Document Summary

Physiology: study of how structure and function how body works together to allow to respond to different external environments. Koalas (herbivores) have an elongated cecum, where most of the gut bacteria that can digest cellulose are meanwhile our coyote does not have an elongated cecum, since it mainly eats other animals. Oxygen needs to be extracted from water since it"s dissolved in water o2 is not as readily available, so it can be extracted from something such as gills. Less light this influences the shape of the animals eye. Water is more dense and more viscous; it"s more expensive/you"re using more energy to move through the water. One advantage is that there"s an abundance in suspended nutrients in water. More light changes in day/light cycles, so we may be more sensitive to changes in light. As we can see, the environment shapes how an animal adjusts in response.
