So we let of last lecture looking at transcripion. So we are going to do transcripion and translaion for the next few midterms and that will cover the material on the midterm coming up soon. Let"s start with a litle video that shows transcripion going on, i probably won"t show the whole thing but it is a good staring point for what we need to know. (video found on slides) Slide 3: what you were seeing it was snaking along dna at prety much an accurate pace it goes very quickly. So that big blue blob that was unzipping dna that"s an enzyme called rna polymerase 2. So we start with dna we transcribe it to rna and then translate it to protein. So we know where these things happen inside the cell and we need to start thinking again at comparing prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
