Explain and give examples of cellular communicaion and its role. Know and difereniate the 6 paths of communicaion. Idenify and difereniate the 6 messenger classes and their characterisics. Know and recognize the 4 diferent classes of receptors. Development, immunity, physiology, cell growth/survival (cancer), hormonal regulaion and homeostasis. Hormones, nature of the message inluences how it"s relayed to the target cells, target cells receive the message and diferent types of messages. Interpret the message, relay the message, set-up a response. How are messages organized, once interpreted something"s have to change inside the cell to act upon the message. The target issues for steroid hormones do not have receptors on the membrane surface for these hormones because these hormones . Alter the membrane potenial of the cell, leading to cellular reponses. Are soluble in the lipid bilayer: this determines where the message is delivered. Are transported against their concentraion gradient by acive transporters in the cell membrane.
