Relationship between expertise, status, and power: the status of an expert often brings some status and power. Modern economics and the importance of the risk expert": more people are putting themselves into the economy as experts in terms of the risks we face in society and as individuals. Need to legitimate expertise and cultivate demand: especially the case when dealing with something that contains uncertainty (ex. crime) Often engage in foreseeable danger claims to foresee a specific crime-related risk: they then simplify the risk, as simple events are more likely to feel like they are going to happen. Depoliticization offenders/disorder are self-evident: cpted as a rational solution that will make it clear who should be where. Responsibilization responsibility to act based on the expertise suggestions: they are often personally offended when you choose not to listen to their suggestions. A new kind of risk: compliance through liability. Consumers are warned about liability, when they choose not to take the expertise.
