Examining the media"s role: watchdog: media as watchdog , investigate, access to info, freedom of press, transparency/accountability. Investigating is extremely time consuming and expensive: access to information police departments are tight lipped. The more media depends on this, the more power the police have. Makes the media vulnerable: transparency and accountability the more we can hold them accountable for investigating techniques, the more transparent they are, less common watchdog role is less common.
