Progressive pedagogy: schools are like malls choices available for programs, electives, learning styles, multiple intelligences, student directive learning, less structured curriculum, intrinsic motivation. Credentialism, grade inflation, and the disengaged student. More good jobs need higher education, people working at jobs they"re over. Students get higher grades than they should inflated over time. Students building self esteem in high school via praise, high grades. 10% students engaged do all work. 40-50% disengaged minimal amount professors become (cid:498)reluctant gate keepers(cid:499) actually having to apply: creates unrealistic expectations, students not prepared for university, real marks to students and facing back lash. 40% - do enough to get by. Gender and sex: biological understanding an dichotomous categories; physiological differences. Gender: social meaning of the categories. Gender identity: sense of biological, psychological, and social belonging to a particular sex. Gender roles: act with expectations in mind of how the member should act. Self-esteem varies by gender and structural (i. e. political, economical, etc. ) advantages.
