Document Summary

Affects of ph3, ph5, and ph7 on the benzoquinone reaction rate at twenty second intervals in a one hundred and twenty second time frame. In this experiment treatments of ph3, ph5, and ph7 are added to culture tubes containing catechol and potato enzyme extract to determine the impact of different ph levels on the oxidation of catechol. In twenty second intervals absorbance (odu) is recorded and concentration (mm) is calculated for a period of one hundred and twenty seconds. It is hypothesized that when the hydrogen ion concentration changes it will not affect the reaction time of catechol, and stand no affect on the benzoquinone reaction rate. Alternatively, if the hydrogen ion concentration changes it will affect the reaction time of catechol and the benzoquinone reaction rate. For ph3 a culture tube was prepared containing 3ml of the buffer (ph3) and 5ml of 0. 05m catechol.
