Dual-process models: explicit processes, correspond roughly to conscious thought; are deliberative, effortful relatively slow, and generally under our intentional control. Inner awareness, or the mind b: implicit processes, comprise our unconscious thought; they are intuitive, automatic, effortless, very fast, and operate largely outside of our intentional control, govern how our mind generally functions low level processes. The two sets of processes work together. Regulate our bodies, continually update our perceptions, infuse emotional experiences, interpret situations, self-reflect, etc. E. g. explicit processes influence implicit processes when our beliefs (bob is a nice person) influence how we process information (how much attention is paid to. E. g. implicit influence explicit (stereotype/tendency to categorize a person) Bias in a way that helps process information efficiently. But since they operate outside of conscious awareness hard to protect yourself from their influence.
