Humans and birds have 4 chambered hearts. Functions include: carry oxygen, nutrients, and waste, distribute hormones to specific cells, regulate body temperature, prevent blood loss, defend against disease, vertebrate hearts. Fish with 2 chambered heart- (an atria and a ventricle) Some reptiles and amphibians have 3 chambered (2 atria and 1 ventricle) Mammals and birds (birds are actually reptiles) have 4 chambered hearts (2 atria and 2 ventricles)
