Involves making a personal atack on another person"s experise, character, intelligence, good faith, or other personal characterisic to demonstrate that the person"s argument or posiion should not be considered. He"s just a gun-toing redneck who thought the president of canada was jean pouine. Involves trying to show that an individual"s argument should be rejected because of the individual"s personal circumstances and relaionship with the subject of the argument. Involves atemping to put an opponent in such a posiion that anything he or she says is dismissed prior to the opponent being heard. Everyone has to support george bush in his opposiion to saddam hussein. Occurs when, instead of ofering raional grounds for a posiion, the arguer uses or threatens to use coercion to get another to do something or to accept an idea. I don"t think it would be wise to run a story on my son"s driving escapades.
