Document Summary

The nuclear family is composed of two adults in a conjugal relationship and their children (fox, 2014). My family dynamic has never portrayed the ideal nuclear family. Throughout history the nuclear family is explained as a woman and a man living in a heteronormative relationship. A heteronormative relationship is based on a heterosexual relationship, a man and a woman together (fox, 2014). Being raised as a child in a single parent home, the nuclear or heteronormative relationship that is a continuous family trend, was never my life. Luckily, i have second hand been able to experience what a nuclear family ideal is like. My grandparents have been happily married for 45 years with two children. Since the passing of my mother at the young age of 17, my family dynamic had changed from a single parent home to living with my extended family.
