Chapter 6 - film and television (sterin, d2l) Narrative filmmaking refers to the types of movies that tell a story. While their structures, genres, and visuals may all be different, Stories can have powerful narratives, can make us reflect on our own lives. Genres (various types of films) are often crossed in film as they do not. Hybrid films mix other stylistic components often rooted in other fit easily into one category or another media : often referring to the inclusion of cgi with living actors. The environment (mis-en-sc ne) includes all that is set before the camera - props, costumes, space: these all reflect the central themes of the film. A trip to the moon (1902): most influential film of all time, was considered a masterpiece, combined live action with innovative sequence. In the 1930s, a studio system was in place to create and distribute films (from 5 major studios) which lead to the creation of the star system.
