Freud"s theory stemmed from a single need of seeking pleasure and avoiding pain! Motives: internal psychological needs that propels a person to think, perceive, and behave in a certain way. Levels of motivation: there are three different levels of motivation: immediate/temporary needs, stable/enduring needs, and general needs. Need: can be described as a readiness to respond in a certain way. It is a state of tension, and a feeling of being compelled or pushed. It is not always conscious (especially in the case of general needs which are hedonistic and survival oriented). There are 27 different psychogenic needs, ranked in a hierarchical manner which is different amongst every individual. There are two different types of need: deficiency and growth: deficiency need to satisfy for health and well-being.
