Background and context

Bacteriophage can be described as a virus whose primary function is to infect bacteria. Bacteriophages are all made up of a nucleic acid molecule encased in a protein framework. There are many myths that bacteriophages can harm humans but none of them are true. However, they can alter the bacterial genetic makeup and can make the bacteria harmful to humans.
