Background and context

A standard deck of playing cards contains 52 cards. There are four different shapes, each thirteen in numbers. The shapes are heart, diamond, spade, and club. The 11^th, 12^th, and 13^th cards of each shape are the face card. Hence, there is a total of 12 face cards in the standard deck.
