Background and context
Protein phosphorylation is an important process in post-translational modification. It helps in the regulation of cell signaling which in turn regulates many biological processes like cell growth, differentiation, and so on. The eukaryotic protein phosphorylation occurs on serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues. Several dual-specificity kinases can phosphorylate the proteins.
