Background and context
Blood is a fluid connective tissue composed of solid components like RBCs or red blood cells, platelets, WBCs, or white blood cells and a liquid component called plasma. Blood is red because of the presence of iron-containing protein, hemoglobin. Blood is the vital constituent of the body that helps in the transporting of oxygen and nutrients to the different cells; however, eliminates metabolic wastes from the body.
