Background and context

The feedback loop is a process used by the body in which the end outcome of a system, a response to metabolic activity increases or decreases the system's response. When the product of a reaction leads to an increase in that response then the process is known as a positive feedback loop. When the product of a reaction leads to a decrease in that response then the process is known as a negative feedback loop.
