Consider a hypothetical quantitative trait (a weight of some kind)affected by five loci. Assume the following:

NO DOMINANCE at any loci
The independent effect of each dominant gene is +10 lbs.
The independent effect of each recessive gene is -4 lbs.
For homozygous combinations, genotypic values are equal to breedingvalues.
? = 600 lb.

For the genotype AaBbCcDdEe, find the breeding value (BV) andgenotypic value (G).

I attempted to solve this problem but I'm not entirely sure if Iwent about it in the correct manner. In regards to the breedingvalue (BV) I came up with 5(+10) + 5(-4) = +30 [I basically addedthe values of each allele]
As for the genotypic value (G) I got 5(10-4) = +30. [Being thatthey're heterozygous, I'm guessing that the dominant/recessive genewill effect each other].

If I'm way off with my answers, could you please tell me what I'mdoing wrong. I have a hard time distinguishing the differencebetween a genotypic value and breeding value. Any help with thiswill be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!!
Ana
