Testosterone creams and gels are prescribed to individuals whose own gonads are not able to produce sufficient testosterone for the production of male secondary sex characteristics. Warnings on these drugs caution pregnant females against handling the drugs, and against touching the skin of a person who has recently applied them. How could exposure to testosterone in this manner affect the development of an XX fetus? What organs/structures would be affected and why?
