Differentiate the range of motion of hip flexion with the knee flexed and then with it extended. Passively flex the hip through its full range permitting the knee to flex. Then passively flex the hip with the knee straight. Note the differences in range and end feels. Why is there a difference in range of motion and what is this mechanical limitation called? What are the structures that limit hip flexion when the knee is in extension?
