Qualifying Questions for Court Testimony Assignments

You will be given a list of court questions to include qualifying questions as well as questions that would likely be asked by the prosecutor and defense attorney. You will write the answers to these questions, show a synthesis of all the information learned not only in this class but also in previous investigative forensics courses.

3. What is the difference between classification and identification?

4. What are fingerprint patterns?

5. Of all the pattern types which is the most common?

6. Does my client have this common pattern type?

7. When are friction ridges formed?

8. And how do they form?

9. You mentioned sweat covers the ridges, how does it get there?

10. What is sweat?

11. Are there different types of sweat?

12. Have you ever heard the term nonsecretor? What does it mean?

13. So someone could have touched the item in question and not left a print? Please explain.

14. How long can a latent remain on a surface?

15. So you have no way of determining when my client’s print was left on the item?

16. Can a latent print transfer itself from one object to another? If so How?
