Flush wound, repeat until prescribed amount of solution is used. Gently insert catheter tip about 1. 3 cm into wound. Hold and leave catheter in place, remove and refill syringe, reconnect syringe and repeat flush until prescribed amount of irrigation fluid used. Placement of catheter tip prevents contamination and prevents unsafe pressure of solution on wound. Permits direct flow of irrigation solution into wound. Prevents aspiration of solution into syringe and contamination of sterile solution. Adjust spray to gentle flow warm water. Shower for 5-10 minutes with head 30 cm away from wound. Dry wound edges with gauze, dry patient after shower with towel.
