Document Summary

The us did not tip the scale in favor of the allies in wwi, that was a myth. It took way too long to deploy the american army and train them. Wwi was won because germany ran out of resources and the allies found strategies to win. Wilson though his 14 points would prevent any further warfare. Demography and national self-determination was critical to this. Wilson also pushed for collective security to get rid of the balance of power system. +wanted an international organization called the league of nations which would stop anyone from engaging in aggressive behavior. Wilson also wanted more international commerce to intertwine countries and that would prevent war because war would ruin economies of both aggressors. Europe didn"t like the plan too much because it was an experiment and if it failed then. Europe, likely france, would be greatly hurt but the usa wouldn"t be hurt.
