That is, (cid:272)ulture e(cid:454)ists i(cid:374) our heads, as (cid:373)u(cid:272)h as (cid:862)out there(cid:863) i(cid:374) the world. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media: culture is symbolic, culture is communicated through language, a system of spoken symbols. This is the most important symbolic component of culture.
