PSY 442 Lecture Notes - Lecture 23: Strict Function, Psy, Functional Neuroimaging
Document Summary
From the frenological tradition to understanding the neural networks that support. From the beginning of the study of cognitive functions, the need for sufficiently adequate evaluation tools to achieve a high degree of specificity and sensitivity in neuropsychological. Precisely, and from an experimental perspective, the study of patients with neurological disorders has allowed a wide development oftheories that aim to establish a relationship between brain and behavior. Studies with neurological patients have deepened knowledge of the various cognitive functions by establishing double dissociations that havesignificantly benefitedour knowledge about the cerebral organization of cognition. It is not a reason for this reflection to review the great advances made by cognitive neuropsychology in the different cognitive processes. However, sincea critical perspe ctiva, we believe that many of these researches have induced the development of a highly frenological conceptual state regarding the brain representation of cognitive functions.
