Child neuropsychology was born as a subfield of basic neuropsychology, seeking to differentiate itself from its discipline of origin, arguing the existence of important functional differences in the. 1 brain between the adult and the child, without forgetting the similarities between the two (paterno and eusebio, 2002). One of the greatest contributions of this subfield is the infant neuropsychological evaluation, which provides a neuropsychological profile of the infant. The purpose of this evaluation is to know how the neurocognitive functions of a developing brain are affected by neurological pathologies, so that the preserved functions are identified, both in quality and level. Regarding the neuropsychological profile, at present, the following neuropsychological functions or groups of functions are covered: gnostic and praxic functions, attention function and frontal supervisory system, memory, linguistic functions and cognitive processing speed. Neuropsychology offer a clinical result. optimal, guaranteeing a more adequate prognosis for the short, medium and long term (paterno et al. , 2002).
