Document Summary

Support and shape, allows cell to grow in size. Deposited inside the primary wall after cell has stopped growing. Sometimes this part gets so big, the original cell dies. Collenchyma cells abundant, has functions like food storage, photosynthesis, secretion, wound healing. Elongated cells with unevenly thickened non-lignified, primary walls beneath epidermis in stems, petioles and around veins in eudicots. Supporting tissue for growing stems, leaves and floral parts, and for herbaceous organs that undergo little or no secondary growth. Thick secondary cell walls that provide support to the plant, fibers. Very densely made of fibers, all energy is put into fibers and secondary metabolites. Also contains parenchyma cells and fibers (sclerenchyma) for storage and support. Perforation can sometimes let air bubbles in = bad because then the water pull system s broken. Can send things up, down, laterally, to the target. Has parenchyma and sclerenchyma for storage and support. Long slender cells in files with only primary cell walls.
