The basics (main points of the video shown) A placebo simulation of therapy is sometimes called the effect of an inert substance. Rituals of the pills we take, everything that isn"t in the toolbox but in an environment. What cures people from illness is their trust between doctor and patient. The fact that taking medication that doesn"t have an effect, and yet you feel better suggests that there are other factors involved in curing a sickness. If a patient doesn"t feel comfortable with their therapist then the placebo effect will be ineffective. Your not allowed to give a patient a sugar pill (or any placebo medication) and tell them it"s a real medication unethical. Double blind experiments patients knows they are getting a placebo drug. Placebos can relieve many pains, but not proven if they can deal with serious medical conditions. Nocebo effect is about positive benefits you get from rituals, symbols, etc.
