One may still perform behaviour due to other concerns (politeness) Performing a behaviour that is incongruent with existing attitudes may change the attitudes in a accordance with the behaviour. Demanded to do something you don"t want to do. Introduction of laws to do something don"t want to with punishment threat. Attitudes change depending on message and from who. Route taken depends on ability and motivation to elaborate on message received. Cognitive resources are required to elaborate on messages.
