Example: told to clean up the mess when you are about -- Reactance theory (little change or even a rebound) One"s own behaviour may be used as info to strengthen one"s attitudes ("i did that, and i must have liked to do that") Perform behaviour voluntarily -> infer attitudes on the basis of your own behaviour. One may still perform the behaviour due to other concerns (eg. politeness) Performing a behaviour that is incongruent with existing attitudes may change the attitudes in accordance with the behaviour.
