Social deviance: any transgression of socially established norms. An example would be committing murder or even something as small as burping out loud in church. Crime: the violation of laws enacted by society. Social cohesion: how well people relate to one another and get along in day-today basis. Mechanical or segmental solidarity: social cohesion based on sameness. Organic solidarity: social cohesion based on interdependence of the parts. Members of this type perform different and specialized functions, this mutual dependence allows for functionality. Social control: mechanisms that create normative compliance in individuals. Formal social sanctions: a mechanism of social control where laws prevent criminal behavior. Informal social behavior: the unexpressed but widely known rules of group membership. Social integration: how well you are integrated into your social group or community. Social regulation: the number of rules guiding your daily life and, more specifically, what you can reasonably expect from the world on a day-to-day basis.
