Self -concept- how you perceive yourself, thoughts, strengths/weaknesses, abilities/limitations. Looking glass self- you"d look at the image of yourself with others to reveal what they think of you. The way they see you reflect on their behaviors. Ex. social media: search engine reports, network spread, online influence, twitter activities, blog presence. Self awareness- examine several aspects of yourself as they might appear to others as well as you. Johari window- metaphoric division of the self into four areas: Open self- represents all the information, behaviors, attitudes, and feelings about yourself. Blind self- knowledge about you that others have but you don"t. Unknown self- parts that you and others don"t know. Hidden self-knowledge that you have but keep secret from others. Increase your open self revealing yourself to others. Seek information about yourself; ask others what they think of you; doing this too much can make you seem insecure. Self esteem-measure of how valuable you think you are.
