The pellis will grab into another bacteria and get them close. The bridge will form between them and the dna will be transferred between them. The donor copies the dna and transfers it to the recipient. There is benefit for bacteria to transfer this material bc they get resistance for antibiotics. + means bacteria is capable of synthesize themselves. If you put them in minimal medium they will not grow because they are auxotrophic. There was transfer of one bacteria to the other. Phototrophic can grow on minimal medium: not all strains can transmit their metabolic capacities to others; sorted between f+ (fertility factor), and f- (the other ones) F+ were able to transfer their ability to metabolize certain things to other compounds. The yellow and blue separately do not grow in minimal medium. But when you put them together their colonies grow in minimal medium. One culture on the left and another on the right.
