71 views1 pages

Document Summary

1/26/15 10:40 pm: communication and the development of media has evolved from simple to complex messages and forms of expression, and from the feudal, agrarian days to the industrial revolution and now digital age. The digital age is constantly changing, as the methods of communicative storage and retrieval use new platforms such as the internet, social networking, search engines, and wireless communication. The digital age is radically different than anything that has come before, but the old forms (legacy media) both interact with new media and adapt to their means to preserve themselves in our society. The information society (which follows the industrial society) occurred when the majority entered an economy mostly concerned with the manipulation of language and symbols: mass media informs, influences, entertains, and provides a marketplace for goods and services.
