Vannevar bush: memex (1945): memory; retrieve and connect sources of information (revolutionary idea at the time) Ted nelson: xanadu (1960): making connections tangible -> advent of personal computer as a mass medium. Hypertext -> idea that the reader is part of the writing process in a sophisticated way.
