ECED 2108 Chapter Notes - Chapter 1: Social Cue, Social Learning Theory
Document Summary
Aggressive behavior: physical aggression: earliest to appear, the use of physical force against others to express anger or frustration, or to reach a goal such as obtaining a toy or being the first in line. Aggressive or antisocial behavior is not the same as conflict. Aggressive behavior is one tactic to deal with conflict. The longer a child uses challenging behavior the harder it is to change their direction. Theories of aggression: general aggression model: integrates earlier theories of aggression into a unified whole, frustration-aggression: when people are frustrated they become angry and hostile and act aggressively. Social learning theory: based on principles of conditioning and reinforcement and contends that people learn aggressive behavior from heir environment. Cognitive script model: children learn scripts or schemas for aggressive behavior, when to expect it, what to do, what it results in and consequences will be and lay them down in their memory banks.
