Common if person does not receive support after victimization. Adolescents are especially susceptible to ptsd which puts them at higher risk of future victimization. Spousal abuse experience high prevalence of psychological problems. Fear is especially prevalent among those who have experienced violent victimization. Began to fear other forms of crime, not just the one they experienced. Adolescents who are victimized are more likely to commit crime themselves (a) early physical/sexual abuse in young males often leads to smoking, drinking, and other drug use.
