Document Summary

Can be a single cell and be an organism. Multicellular- exists as a collection of at least two cells. Organisms can acquire and use materials and energy. Homeostasis - cells and organisms maintaining a relatively constant internal condition. Organisms sense and respond to internal and external stimuli. Evolution- explain how life on earth has diversified. Similarities are found among different types of organisms as a result of common ancestry. Mutation- can lead to genetic variation among population. Natural selection- traits that allow certain individuals to survive and reproduce better than others in a given environment. No it has to be a population, an individual can have a mutation. Natural selection- a process or mechanism so organisms can survive or reproduce better than others in a particular environment. Adaptations- structures, physiological processes, or behaviors that aid in survival and reproduction. Species- group of organisms of the same type that can reproduce. Humans can accelerate the rate of environmental change.
