Educational psychology- the study of learners, learning, and teaching. What makes a good teacher: knowing how to transmit information and skills, knowing how to communicate information, the ability to relate abstract ideas to everyday life. Pedagogy- the link between what a teacher wants students to learn and what students actually learn. Intentionality- doing things for a reason; always experimenting. Good teaching: self knowledge and self regulation, decision making, application of education research, reflection. Using a wide variety of methods, assignments and materials. Teacher efficiency- the belief that the teacher makes a difference. Constantly testing, using different techniques, resources, taking advice from colleagues. Collective efficiency- the faculty as a whole doing the above things. It is important to know and understand the developmental needs of students. 4 categories from stakeholder groups: core subjects and themes, learning and innovation skills, information, technology, and media skills, life and career skills. Common core- expectations for knowledge at a given age.
